Hunger : A Disease that is plaguing our Society

Many communities and societies across the world are plagued with the challenge of hunger. There is quite a huge number of the world population suffering from hunger and the problem does not seem to have a permanent solution. Today, hunger has been experienced all over the world due to drought and famine and bad governance as well. While some of the challenges that we have cannot be controlled, some especially those related to food provision are as a result of human mistakes.
To a larger extent, world hunger today is as a result of poor policy and governance. The prioritization of many governments across the world lack very important aspects of managing the welfare of its people. Today, more than eight hundred and five million people in the universe do not have sufficient food. It is very alarming to note the many people that have died of poverty and hunger on an annual basis more than the death caused by malaria, AIDS and tuberculosis put together.
Poverty and hunger has made very many people vulnerable across the world. Almost 1.2 billion across the globe are suffering from hunger due to their poverty conditions. While global hunger has seen a decreased rate, the issue has still continued to claim lives.

Food insecurity is a very precarious situation to live with. Hunger is a global issue because one stricken region will definitely draw attention from other parts of the world. Poor countries have been affected by volatile food prices in recent times and have become unstable over some time now. The issue is affected by a number of factors. The competition for food resources is increasing by the day and the balance needs to be created based on such factors. The issue requires an extrapolation of the provision today with a factor rate of population growth. This is the only way through which world hunger will be curbed.
today, more than three-quarters of the world’s poor populace now living in the rural areas rely on agriculture for sustenance. The sector has not produced sufficiently for the masses and artificial farming methods are being sought to provide a solution to the unfailing rains that support agriculture. World hunger has now become a global concern that needs the input of all.

Approximately one-fifth of the worlds population, over one billion people, earns less than one dollar a day” . Living in today’s society, as unpalatable as it may be, it is succinct that homelessness, hunger, lack of work, and illiteracy are direct effects of destituity among people today.  As a result, this causes people to struggle throughout their lives.

Hunger is an issue, which many people think lies little importance. I’m going to give you a look at World Hunger as a Picture of Poverty, how it affects Third World Nations, and How World Hunger is a disease that is plaguing our society.

Every morning when I wake up the first thought in my mind is usually: FOOD! I often lie in bed for a few extra minutes, planning out what I am going to eat for breakfast. Seldom as I go through this routine do I stop to think about those who are less fortunate than me. I often take for granted that everyone wakes up and eats breakfast. But this is far from true, not everyone shares the luxuries that we have in India. Some people wake up and wonder if they will eat at all that day, let alone eat breakfast. Why? Because food, like many other things, is unequally distributed throughout the world.

The struggle for enough food has gone on for centuries. Back in primitive days, the first task human beings undertook was the search for food. Primitive people were collectors, they would find what they could to eat and hope that it would be enough. When this failed to meet the population’s needs, humans became hunters and trapped their food. Finally, some years later, humans began to farm the land. Because of the growing demand for food, those who could produce the most crops were considered the most powerful.

Conclusions:

Its amazing how much just one person can do. There are so many around the world that are dying every minute from starvation, but by raising awareness, showing the statistics, and giving ideas, we can end world hunger.

We live in a world where so many have no clue about the people in need of food. I feel like so many don’t show their loving sides to those who need our help. Of course, there are a good bit of people out there who show their kindness to those in need. Just think about everyone who is worrying about when they will get their next meal. The problem that is occurring right now needs to be revealed to the world. Everyone needs to know what is happening right in front of them. This can no longer be hidden from the clueless, the facts need to be shown. There are many programs that are currently helping to alleviate the world hunger problems.
But, we can’t forget that the term “world” includes developed countries as well. A lot of people think that people out side of developed countries need all of the help. This is not true, developed countries need just as much help. There are about 19 million people in developed countries alone. Of course, this number doesn’t even compare to the 925 million total that are hungry, but it’s still quite a large number.

Imagine a life where all that was thought about was “when will I eat next” or “will I survive through the night”? Life would be so difficult. This plan to eliminate world hunger is quite a large one, but anything is possible if people set their minds to it.

Think about that little boy or girl in Africa, Asia, india or even America, that is starving because their parents can’t afford food. A famous woman once said that “natural disasters such as severe droughts, earthquakes, and tropical storms, and the disruption they cause to agriculture and food distribution, contribute to the hunger crisis. Drought, for example, is now the single most common cause of acute food shortages in the world. Women, who account for up to 80 percent of the world’s farmers, She is saying that there are so many reasons why starvation is occurring all over the world. Starvation is everywhere and we need to put an end to it as soon as we can. It has taken enough lives as it is. If we all got together, then this dream of no hunger could actually be a reality! We can do this if we really try!

‌ I hope that people become motivated by this article to make a change in the world. It is just amazing what can happen if everyone works together! Get out there, do something! „
